Abstract
Purpose: To determine the relationship between the level of addiction to smartphone use and the sleep quality of teenagers at SMA Negeri 2 Palangka Raya in Palangka Raya City.
Methodology: Quantitative method with Observational Analytical research type with a Cross Sectional Study approach. The research subjects were 110 students of class XI at SMA Negeri 2 Palangka Raya with a sampling technique, namely simple random sampling. The statistical test used in this research is the Spearman Rank statistical test.
Findings: The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between the level of smartphone addiction and the quality of adolescent sleep. This statement is supported by the Rank Spearman statistical test using SPSS, a p-value of 0.022 < 0.05 (α= 0.05) was obtained, which means that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, which means that there was a meaningful relationship between the level of addiction to smartphone use and the sleep quality of adolescents of SMA Negeri 2 Palangka Raya class XI.
Limitation: This study includes identifying the characteristics of respondents based on gender, age, major, average duration of smartphone use, and purpose of smartphone use. Identifying the level of addiction to smartphone use, identifying the quality of adolescent sleep and analyzing the relationship between the level of addiction to smartphone use and the quality of adolescent sleep in SMA Negeri 2 Palangka Raya grade XI Palangka Raya City.
Contribution: This research is useful as a source of information and consideration for adolescents to be wiser and more selective in using smartphones, as well as increase rest time, especially at night, to maintain good sleep quality in adolescents at SMA Negeri 2 Palangka Raya grade XI Palangka Raya City. The results of this study are expected to be useful and provide additional knowledge insights and references for researchers in the future, especially related to the relationship between the level of addiction to smartphone use and adolescent sleep quality. Both in terms of variables, methods, and subjects used.
