Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and immunization status against stunting.
Methodology: This study employs quantitative observational analytics with a casecontrol approach. The population of this study is toddlers aged 2 to 5 years in the Sumedang Regency working area. Purposive sampling is used in the sampling technique. The participants included 66 stunted toddlers and 66 controls. Chi-square was used for data analysis.
Findings: The study findings show a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and stunting (p-value = 0.003; OR = 3.271). On the other hand, this study shows no significant relationship between immunization status and stunting (pvalue=0.380; OR= 1.363).
Limitations: The number of samples in this study is limited to one sub-district area so that the sample size and sample area coverage can be expanded in future research.
Contributions: The findings of this study suggest that health professionals re-promote exclusive breastfeeding during the first two years of life. Health professionals must also re-socialize the importance of primary immunization to improve children’s health.
