THE CORRELATION BETWEEN THE MENSTRUATION CYCLE AND HEMOGLOBIN LEVELS IN FEMALE MEDICAL STUDENTS AT UNIVERSITAS PALANGKA RAYA

Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the menstrual cycle and hemoglobin levels in female medical students at Universitas Palangka Raya, students of 2020, 2021, and 2022 in 2023.
Methodology: Menstrual cycle data were collected online using Google Forms, and hemoglobin levels were obtained directly from the MHD-1 Hb test meter. This study was an analytical observational study that sought to find the relationship between the menstruation cycle and hemoglobin levels using a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was performed using simple random sampling and analyzed using the Spearman test in the SPSS Statistics 26 application. This study was based on an initial survey that found that no similar study had been conducted at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Palangka Raya in 2023.
Findings: There was no significant relationship between the menstrual cycle and hemoglobin levels.
Limitation: The researchers were unable to see the respondents’ conditions at the time of filling out the questionnaire and did not include some respondent characteristics such as socioeconomic status and physical activity.
Contribution: The results of this study are useful for all readers, and healthcare workers, especially adolescent girls, to detect reproductive health early.
